What are enlarged lymph nodes in the groin?
Enlarged lymph nodes occur when the nodes fill with inflammatory cells. This often is a result of an infection but can occur without a known cause. Underneath the skin, there are about 10 small lymph nodes in the groin area. They contain immune cells that fight infection and filter harmful substances from the body. When your body is fighting an infection, they can swell to a size that you can feel them.
